Aside from the rugby, we hold regular social events and even invite player’s partners to some events! Most years we organise a short tour, which in the past has taken us to Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England and Italy. No clues have been provided as to future destinations, but the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that only France is missing from a tour of the Six Nations.

Club history

During a friendly game of cards in 2011, Weston resident Dave King suggested we form a village rugby team.  Although many of the people who were initially involved had never played rugby before, Chris Fletcher agree to teach the players the basic rules and provide some fitness and skills coaching.  The club was formed that summer and played its first competitive games in a touch tournament in Letchworth under the name “Weston Fatboys”.  We were convincingly beaten by everyone!

Undeterred, the Club decided to move on to playing proper 15-a-side Rugby Union.  Alice Cherry kindly offered to let the Club use the field at the end of her garden for a pitch, goal posts were donated by Letchworth RFC, Con Dower arranged for the posts to be installed and other items were generously donated by other local rugby clubs.

By the winter of 2011 ‘The Fatboys’ had been renamed ‘Weston RFC’ and were shaping up into a reasonable team.  Following a presentation to Herts Rugby Football Union, and a lot of favourable publicity, Weston RFC became a member of the RFU and was entered into Hertfordshire & Middlesex Merit Table 8 for the 2011-12 season.  Click hereto see a feature about Weston RFC on the BBC.

Much to our surprise, Weston won the league!  In fact, despite being promoted each year, Weston RFC came top of the league for the first 3 years and were promoted each year for 6 consecutive years!  Suffice it to say that not all of the original players continued to play as the club started to attract many younger, fitter and more skilful players.

Today the Club continues to play in the Herts & Middlesex League.  It is a highly sociable club and draws its members from Weston and the local area.
